For my design portfolio, I created “Redemption Bonds,” a custom currency used exclusively by the central gang in Red Dead Redemption 2. Because the game is set in 1899, I wanted the bills to look like faded, time-worn artifacts you might actually discover today. To nail that aesthetic, I blended vintage paper textures and film grain with American Impressionist-style landscapes and heroic realism for the character portraits. I bounced between Photoshop and Illustrator to edit the game imagery and trace authentic 1800s design elements. One of my favorite details is the custom anti-counterfeit code; it uses picture symbols to spell out “HAVE SOME FAITH,” a nod to the gang’s leader. Finished off with faded, stamped typography and specific pops of color to highlight different character personalities, the project was a really fun way to translate a digital game world into a physical, historical design
